Australian-Italian soprano Giuseppina Grech is one of the country’s most exciting and popular young vocal talents. In 2024, she sings Queen of the Night for Opera Australia in Die Zauberflöte at the Sydney Opera House.

She graduated from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, before winning the Italian Acclaim Opera Fellowship Awards. This allowed her to continue her studies in Italy at La Scala’s Teatro Accademia alla Scala in Milan, with renowned international soprano Luciana Serra.

Aged 23, Giuseppina made her European debut as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at Teatro Moriconi in Ieri, Italy. Her other European engagements include solo performances at the Pergolesi Spontini Festival, as well as concert series with the AIMS Orchestra in Graz, Austria.

Since returning to Australia, Giuseppina has appeared regularly with Opera Australia in both mainstage and touring productions; she recently starred as Carlotta Guidicelli in The Phantom of the Opera to critical acclaim. Other roles for the national company include Frasquita in Carmen and Isabella/Ferdinand in El Kid. She also appeared in Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour productions of La Boheme and La Traviata, as well as Aida, Madama Butterfly, Lucia di Lammermoor, and Anna Bolena at the Sydney Opera House.

She has sung Swallow in The Happy Prince (Victorian Opera), Dido in Dido and Aeneas (VCA) and created the role of Daughter for Gordon Kerry’s opera premiere Snow White and other Grimm Tales.

Giuseppina’s concert appearances have included collaborations with many of Australia’s most celebrated artists - Yvonne Kenny, Teddy Tahu Rhodes, David Hobson, James Morrison, Mark Vincent, The Australian Tenors and violinist Ian Cooper.

In 2019, she performed in recital for the Bravo Cruise of Performing Arts and, the following year, released her début album Love Is My Reason.
